Elrena Clemens


WEST EDMESTON – Elrena Pearl Welch Clemens, 81, of West Edmeston, passed away on Aug. 12, 2012 in Hamilton.
She was born in New Berlin on Jan. 17, 1931 daughter of Arthur R. and Edna L. (Brown) Welch.
She spent her childhood in the Leonardsville area and graduated from the Leonardsville Central School. On Jan. 18, 1949 she married Ernest Elwood Clemens, who survives. Besides serving in many duties as a pastor’s wife, she played the organ in the West Edmeston Church. She also worked as a cook at the Chase Memorial Nursing Home for nine years and enjoyed playing the organ for the residents. For many years she was involved in the Homeland Missionary.
Besides her husband she is survived by one daughter, Becky Allyson of Atlanta, Ga.; nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Welch of Veron Center and Clayton Welch of Norwich; and one sister, Lucile Maxson of Charlotte, N.C. She was predeceased by one daughter, Cynthia Marie, and one son, David Mark.
Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Dakin Funeral Home, New Berlin, with Pastor Edward Whitehead of the North Brookfield Church. Viewing will be held at the Dakin Funeral Home on Thursday from noon to 2 p.m. Interment will in the Button Falls Family Cemetery.
