Frances Davis


GREENE – Frances H. Davis, of Greene, passed away quietly and peacefully at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton on Friday, Aug. 10, 2012.
She was born in Smithville on April 5, 1915, daughter of the late William and Edna Wells Hallenbeck. She was also predeceased by her husband, Arthur; brother, William Jr.; and son-in-law, Steve McIntire.
Frances is survived by her daughter and son, Mary McIntire and Richard Davis; granddaughter, Dawn and Dave Tull; two great-grandchildren, Frannie and Henry Tull; two nephews, Dr. Bill and Alice Hallenbeck, Jim and Janet Hallenbeck; special sister-in-law, Helen Hallenbeck.
In years prior to her marriage, Frances held secretarial positions, one being with the New York State Department of Conservation, in Norwich. In October of 1939, she married her husband Arthur, and was active in maintaining all farm records, plus enjoying the various duties of a busy farm wife. Frances was a member of the Smithville Center United Methodist Church, where she was pianist for over 45 years. She truly enjoyed music, especially hymns. Frances cherished her family. Her friends were always aware that they could come by the house anytime and find a welcoming atmosphere. Through the years, her flower and vegetable gardens brought her much contentment.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Monday at Root Funeral Home, 23 North Chenango Street, Greene.
A special thanks to her niece, Martha Hallenbeck Reid, who was so thoughtful and kind throughout this time period when Frances was in the hospital. The family also wishes to thank Nurse Paula for her concern and compassion.
