William Ullrich


SOUTH OTSELIC – William R. “Oatmeal” Ullrich, 70, of South Otselic, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Oatmeal was born in Queens on Aug. 13, 1941, a son of the late William H. and Adelaide Bowman Ullrich. He owned and operated the Otselic Valley Garage since 1989 and was a 20-year member of the South Otselic Fire Department. He was also a member of the Otselic Valley Grange, served as a trustee for the Valley View Cemetery Association, and was a member of the Red Knights Motorcycle Club NY Chapter 40. Oatmeal was a respected member of the Otselic Valley community and was always willing to lend a helping hand. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Roberta Ullrich; a son, Robert Ullrich and his companion, Cindie Palmer of South Otselic and her children, David and Pamela and her six grandchildren; daughters, Deborah DeVinne and her husband Pete of Norwich, and their children and Oatmeal’s granddaughters, Kimberly and Erin, and Kathleen Ullrich and her companion, Gino Shaw, of Syracuse. He also leaves behind his close friends of whom he thought of as brothers, Eddie, Mike and Harry Spahn and those he thought of as sons, Erik Bluemke and Jonathan Kenn.
Funeral services will be held at the South Otselic United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Thursday with Reverend Carl Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, on Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m.
