Robert J. Higgie, 82, a life long Norwich resident, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 8, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family.
Bob was born in Norwich on Sept. 18, 1929, the son of Albert and Dorothy Robb Higgie, Jr. He grew up in Norwich and was a 1947 graduate of the Norwich High School. Soon after his graduation he entered the United States Air Force where he served his country until his honorable discharge.
Throughout his adult life, Bob was well known in the area as a self-employed electrician. In March of 1987 in Norwich, Bob married Marie Mount.
Bob is survived by his wife Marie of Norwich, his children, Brenda L. Boerger and her husband Dan of Texas, Donna Higgie of Norwich, Randall Higgie and his wife Becky of Florida, Patty Foster and her husband Jim of Norwich and Barbara Rifanburg and her husband Mark, also of Norwich. Also surviving is his sister Norma Jean Higgie Jennings of Syracuse , eight grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bob was predeceased by his first wife Mary Dunckel Higgie, who passed away Dec. 17, 1985.
At Bob’s request services will be private and at the convenience of the family with interment taking place in the J.D. Lewis Cemetery of Preston.
