SHERBURNE – Edith L. Willcox, 91, of Sherburne, formerly of “Out a Way” farm, Whaupaunaucau Road, Norwich passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012.
She was born Nov. 14, 1920 in Norwich the daughter of George Edward and Melvina Medbury Townsend, and received her education in local schools. Edith married Edmond K. Wilcox on Oct. 1, 1938 in Norwich. He predeceased her on Sept. 16, 1980.
Edith lived a full and independent life and was a proud member of the Rolling Antiquers Old Car Club, the North Norwich Garden Club, and the Chenango County Historical Society.
She is survived by her son, Ronald Willcox of Herkimer and daughter, Judy Dean of North Norwich; her grandchildren, Lisa and William Doughty of North Norwich; Lawrence and Rebecca Dean of Norwich; Lynn Franck, and her partner Bruce Fink of North Norwich; Lorinda Dean of Sherburne and Liane Dean of Louisville, Kentucky; several great grandchildren; great, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Phillip G. Willcox; her son-in-law Peter Dean; a brother Edward J. Townsend; and a sister, Lavinia Ford.
There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the North Norwich Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Chenango County Historical Society or the North Norwich Fire Department.
