Teddy Potter

NEW BERLIN – Pearlisa “Teddy” Potter, 69, went with our Lord, Jesus Christ on Thursday, July 26, 2012.
Teddy was born and raised on the island of Oahu, HI. She graduated from Kahuku High School and went to Kapiolani Community College for her LPN degree. In 1961 she met Gary Potter and they were married in 1966 at St. Patrick’s Church while Gary was serving in the U.S. Navy and stationed at Pearl Harbor. She and Gary moved to New Berlin in 1967 where she gained employment at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich. Teddy retired from Chenango Memorial Hospital in 2009 after 40 years of service, 36 of those years were spent on the maternity ward helping mothers and their babies.
In her retirement she enjoyed traveling with her husband, sewing, quilting and cooking, but above all she enjoyed and cherished spending time with her grandchildren. Teddy had a zest for life and enjoyed each day to the fullest whether she was weeding her garden or hosting a party at her home. She loved sharing stories and traditions from Hawaii with her family so that they too would carry on the tradition. Teddy was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in New Berlin.
Teddy was predeceased by her father, Jose Ancog, her mother, Rosa Ancog, and her brother Richard Ancog.
She is survived by her husband Gary, her sons: Duane (Kim), Jody (Nancy) and Terry (Jeanine), her nine grandchildren (Kayla, Kiana, Cassie, Nathan, Jordan, Gabriella, Brayden, Isabella, and Declan), her siblings: Elena, Melinda and Jose Jr., her step-mother, Sora, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins in Hawaii.
Due to construction at St. Paul’s Church, a Catholic Mass will be held at St. Bartholomew’s Church in Norwich at 4 p.m. Thursday followed by a Celebration of Life at the Reception Hall next to St. Bartholomew’s. She will be laid to rest in Mililani Memorial Cemetery in Hawaii at a later date.
In lieu of flowers friends are asked to please make donations to the Holy Family School, 17 Prospect St, Norwich, NY 13815 where the three Potter boys attended Kindergarten through 8th grade. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.johnstonfh.com
Arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.
Aloha to our mom, grandma, wife and friend.
