Michael Doroshenko


HAMILTON – Michael “Mike” Doroshenko, 72, of River Road, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Community Memorial Hospital, Hamilton.
He was born on June 29, 1940 in Summerville, N.J., a son of Mike and Mary Karlik Doroshenko and received his education in local schools. On Nov. 25, 1961, Michael married Janice W. Strieff in Madison. She died on June 20, 2007. Mike was a master mechanic for the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation in Sherburne for 31 years until his retirement. He had previously worked for Jones’ Motors in Hamilton. He loved working on cars and was always able to fix things that no one else could. His favorite hobbies included gardening, farming and feeding the wild birds. He was a generous and caring person who could always be counted on to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Spending time with his family was his greatest joy.
Michael was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church in Morrisville.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Michael J. and Donna Doroshenko of Hamilton; daughter, Judy Doroshenko of Sherburne; sisters, Rosemary Doroshenko of Morrisville and Olga Risley of Deansboro; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Dorothy Doroshenko, Peter and Eunice Doroshenko, all of Morrisville; his beloved grandchildren, Michael and Jordan Doroshenko of Hamilton; Ashley and Abbey Cappadonia of Westmoreland; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many friends, including his long-time friend Jean Stagaman of Hamilton. Two infant daughters, Audrey Lee and Valerie Kay predeceased him.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 3 Preston St., Earlville, followed by interment in the Earlville Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday from noon until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
