Anne Simmons


NORWICH – Anne N. Simmons, 93, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 14, 2012 in Rochester.
Anne was born on Feb. 6, 1919 along with her twin brother, Richard to the late Arthur and Margaret (Fern) Simmons in Norwich.
She was a graduate of the College of St. Rose and Syracuse University.
Anne retired in 1980 after a long teaching career as the Superintendent of Foreign Languages for the Syracuse City School District. Anne was a professed member of the Third Order of Saint Dominic and an active member of Saint Daniel’s Church.
She wa predeceased by her sisters, Elizabeth Kehoe and Katharine Dean and her brothers, John, Arthur and Richard Simmons and her nephew, Peter Dean.
Anne is survived by her nieces and nephews: Natalie Kehoe Murphy, Mary Eleanor Kehoe Jones, Alicia Margaret Dean Staudenmayer, William Kehoe, Richard Kehoe, Marianne Simmons Murray and their families.
A dear friend to many, Anne was a steadfast example of faith and hope to all.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Daniel’s Church, 3004 Court Street, Syracuse.
The Rite of Committal and Burial will be Friday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Norwich. There will be no calling hours.
In her memory, contributions may be made to The Dominican Monastery of Perpetual Rosary, 800 Court Street, Syracuse NY 13208.
