Velma Potter


NEW BERLIN – Velma G. Potter, 84, of New Berlin, passed away Jan. 4, 2007 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born Sept. 1, 1922 in Harmony, Pa., the daughter of Charles & Nane (Lewis) Stauffer. On Oct. 18, 1939, she married Renwick W. Potter, who predeceased her on Feb. 10, 1986.
Velma is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Burr (Joyce) Gross of New Berlin, Mrs. Robert (Shirley) Boise of New Berlin, and Mrs. Richard (Kathy) Dye of South Edmeston; by one son: Gary & Pearlisa “Teddy” Potter of New Berlin; and by 11 grandchildren and 23 Ggreat grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters: Mrs. George Dindinger and Mrs. Earl Foreman.
Velma was a homemaker who enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. She was a member of the Columbus Community Church in the Town of Columbus, where she was also a member of the Altar Guild and Ladies Aid. She was a member of theVictory Rebekah Lodge of South New Berlin as well.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Dakin Funeral Home, LP, New Berlin, with Reverend Stephen Reese of the Columbus Community Church officiating.
Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery of South New Berlin.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Dakin Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Columbus Community Church, Columbus, or the Chenango Area Hospice, Norwich.
