NORWICH – Christen J. “Chris” “Butch” Madsen, Jr., 66, of Norwich, passed away Thursday afternoon, June 28, 2012, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Chris was born in Oxford in June of 1946 the son of Christen and Bernice Erickson Madsen. He has been a resident of the Norwich area for the past 35 plus years and was employed by CWS of Norwich. Chris enjoyed joking around, was a lover of country music, liked a good game of cards and enjoyed watching people while sitting on the front porch..
Chris is survived by his longtime companion Theresa Smith of Norwich; his brothers John R. Madsen and his wife Beth of Imperial Beach, CA and Lyle A. Madsen of Sidney; his nieces and nephews John M. Madsen, William Peck and his wife Mary Ann, Jennifer Darah, Lance A. Madsen and his wife Heather and Michael Madsen. Several great nieces and great nephews also survive as well as his extended family at 93 North Broad St.
Chris was predeceased by his sisters Evelyn and Vivian and his nephew Roger Madsen.
Memorial services for Chris will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Nancy Hale, pastor of the Broad Street United Methodist Church. will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the Evergreen Cemetery of Unadilla.
There will be no calling hours.
