Elsie Savory

GREENE – Elsie M. Savory, 83, of Greene, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on June 27, 2012.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Frederick Savory, of 55 years in 2004. Together, they loved bowling and traveling to many different destinations on their SeedWay vacations. Elsie loved to be with her family and friends, playing many types of games. If you were looking for Elsie, you would find her in her garden tending to her lilies, irises, poppies, and many other varieties. Her love of hummingbirds and cardinals could be found outside in her birdfeeders, as well as inside with multiple sun-catchers. She had beautiful perennials and loved to share her knowledge of them with her family and friends.
Elsie was born and raised on a farm in Mount Upton, later moving to Greene and working on her own farm for as long as she was able. She worked as a supervisory field enumerator for NASDA until retiring in 2007. She was also an active member of the Chenango Valley Rebekah Lodge #375 for many years.
She is survived by: her son, Thomas Savory and fiancée, Nancy Evans, of Binghamton, his sons Matthew (Allison Evans) Savory of Baldwinsville, Benjamin Savory of Rochester, and Jeffrey (Shannon Failmezger) Savory of Newport News, Virginia, and their mother Mary Lee Savory of Fulton; her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Richard Schwab of East Syracuse, their daughters Robyn (Joseph) Porpiglio, Kristin Schwab and Kathryn Schwab all of East Syracuse; and her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Michelle Savory of Greene, their children Elizabeth Savory and Danielle Savory of East Lansing, Michigan, J. Scott (Bridget Boeltz) Savory, their twin daughters Lillian and Ellie Savory of Binghamton, and Keith Savory of Greene; her close friends Florence Conners, Martha Dibbell, Jeannine Wolfe, Alice Collins and Doris Moennich.
The family would like to thank Rebecca Skotty of Hospice for her kind words and support.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Root Funeral Home 23 North Chenango Street, Greene. A luncheon will follow the service at her home. She will be laid to rest 5 p.m. Saturday in Godfrey Cemetery, Guilford.
Friends of the family may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Root Funeral Home.
