Elaine Kelley


NORWICH – Elaine Marie Kelley, 76, formerly of Norwich, and more recently of Wendell, N.C., passed away peacefully June 5, 2012 with her family by her side in Raleigh, N.C.
Born Feb. 4, 1936, Elaine was the daughter of Benjamin Williams and Kathryne Johnston of Norwich. She graduated from Norwich High School with the class of 1954. Elaine worked for the Norwich Central School District as the secretary to the school principal, and also worked at Wilkes College in Kingston, Pa.
She had a love for decorating, adored her three cats, and was looking forward to becoming a great-grandmother in just a couple of months. Elaine was also everyone’s mother with such a great big heart. She will forever remain in her family’s hearts, and was loved more than she will ever know!
Elaine leaves behind her husband of 32 years, Warren J. Kelley, Sr. Also surviving are her children, Barry J. Simmons (Franklyn Avilan), of Wake Forest, N.C., Susan J. Simmons-Spaulding (Jody L. Spaulding), of Knightdale, N.C., Warren Kelley Jr., of Endicott, and Kristopher (Reva) Kelley, of Maryland. Beloved grandsons, Ryann Michael Tabor, of Raleigh, N.C., Jarred Todd (Jaclyn) Spaulding, of Raleigh, NC, and Thomas J. Simmons Jr., of Corpus Christi, Texas, also survive. She entered into eternal peace with her son Thomas J. Simmons Sr., who predeceased Elaine in Dec. 2005 in Cocoa Beach, Fla. Also predeceased are sisters Gwendolyn Boulant and June Trinder.
Elaine also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, Robert Whitney, Timothy Whitney, Kathryne Whitney Lavoie, Kim Boulant Harvey, Paula Boulant Swartout, David Trinder, Cara Cameron, and Mark Trinder.
A memorial service will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13, with Rev. Brian Conover officiating. Burial will immediately follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m.
