David Stewart


PLYMOUTH – David Stewart, of Plymouth, passed away Monday, May 28, 2012 at his residence with his family and partner by his side.
Born in Watertown on Nov. 9, 1944, David was the son of Earl and Catherine (Badalato) Stewart. David was known well for his artistic abilities. He worked for several years as a display artist for Lerner Shops in Syracuse. He took his expertise to work in the same capacity for the Hamilton House furniture store in Norwich. Later, David was co-owner of the Cloistered Pallate, a Norwich shop that carried and sold specialized artifacts and served as a consignment store for area artists. David also was a talented floral arranger, which he did from his home and the shop.
Surviving David is his partner of 34 years, Robert Somborski; brother Steve Duvall (Teri Walters) of Watertown; sister Frances (Michael) Barrata of Syracuse; and sister Deborah (William) Brengle of Jacksonville, Fla., as well as several other siblings, nieces and nephews.
David served as an usher for several years for St. Bartholomew’s Church. He was also an avid gardener, and took particular pride in landscaping his grounds at home. He also enjoyed completing home improvement projects. David was quite humorous, and was kind to everyone with whom he came into contact. He was extremely fond of his Yorkshire Terriers, Blue and Chipper.
A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at Glenwood Cemetery in Watertown. There will be no calling hours.
