SHERBURNE – Erica J. Wilkes, 30, of Sherburne, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 at UHS/Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich.
She was born on July 9, 1971 in Norwich and was raised in Sherburne, where she was a graduate of Sherburne-Earlville Central School in 2001. Erica had worked for the Oneonta Job Corp. at one time. In her early years, she had been a cheerleader and a member of the United Church of Christ youth group. Erica was a loving and devoted mommy whose life revolved around her daughter.
Surviving are her beloved daughter, Kayla Lee; her mother and step-father, Nancy and Patrick Goldsmith of Sherburne; her father, James Wilkes of Oxford, his companion and Erica’s best friend, Claudia Wilbur of Sanitaria Springs; paternal grandmother, Marjorie Wilkes of North Norwich; two step-sisters, Tonya Romain of Maine, NY and Tammy Buck of Apalachin; three half-brothers, Ty Tighe, of Niskayuna; Jacob Wilkes of Norwich and Luke Wilkes of Oxford; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, followed by interment in the North Norwich Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m.
