Mary Dodd


SHERBURNE – Mary Ann Howell Dodd, 75, of Sears Pond Road, formerly of Hamilton, passed away Monday, Jan. 1, 2007 at M.I. Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown.
She was born Sept. 6, 1931 in Colfax, Wash., a daughter of Elmo and Alice Sexton Howell. She was a graduate of Pullman (WA) High School, Washington State University, Oberlin College, the University of Arkansas and the University of Tennessee. On June 11, 1951, Mary Ann was united in marriage to Jack G. Dodd in Chicago, Ill. They resided in Hamilton for many years, where Mrs. Dodd joined the staff at Colgate University in July 1973. She was the University Organist and music teacher, retiring in June 1993 with the title University Organist Emeritus. She had also taught at SUNY Binghamton where she was the recipient of the Visiting Link Professorship in 1989. She was a member of the American Guild of Organists.
Surviving are her husband, Jack; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Ruslana Dodd of Jacksonville, Ala.; a daughter, Laura Evans of Hartsdale,; three grandchildren, Kateryna Dodd, Philip Evans and Katherine Evans.
 A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
