Evelyn Kent


McDONOUGH – Evelyn Rose (Harrison) Kent, 80, formerly of McDonough went to be with the Lord on Dec. 31, 2006 at the New York State Veterans’ Home, Oxford.
Born Feb. 12, 1926 in Franklin, Isle of Wright County, Va., she was the daughter of William Henry Harrison, Sr. and Josie Clay Carr Harrison of Franklin, Va. On Dec. 21, 1945 she married Richard Thayer Kent (a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran) in Norfolk, Va.  Evelyn moved to McDonough in 1963 from Levittown.
She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Richard and her brothers Alfred Harrison, Joseph C. Harrison, William H. Harrison, Jr., Wallace F. Harrison and Robert E. Harrison and sister Mary Ann Howell all of Virginia.
 She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law: Paul and Madelon Kent of McDonough, Roger and Janice Kent of Norwich, Douglas and Cynthia Kent of Vestal and James (JP) and Cynthia Lea Kent of McDonough. Five grandchildren and spouses: Christopher and Brian Kent, Tomeka Braam, Jason Kent, Michael Kent, survive her. Her four great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Abby, Alex, and Alexis also survive her. She is also survived by two nieces she and her husband took in and raised: Sandra Harrison of Virginia and Patricia Fulton of Virginia; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Leslie and Joan Kent of North Oxford, Mass., Carolina and Russ Scira of McDonough, and Edith and Harry Ryan of East Islip.
Evelyn was a homemaker and co-partner in her husband’s business, Missilecraft, a precision sheet metal fabrication company.  She was active in the East Pharsalia Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary receiving several recognitions for her outstanding help.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford. Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the New York State Veterans’ Home for the excellent and loving care given to their mother.
