James Mudge

OXFORD – James Baird Mudge, 56, of Nashua, N.H. died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua. He was born on July 8, 1955 in Binghamton, a son of Janet (Brown) Seehausen and the late Alden Mudge Afton and Oxford.
He was the beloved husband of Jill (Houghton) Mudge, whom he married on Oct. 15, 1988 in Princeton, N.J. They met while attending graduate school at RIT, in Rochester.
Jim attended elementary school in Afton, and middle school in Oxford. He graduated from Clarkson University in Potsdam, and went on to earn his Masters Degree from Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester. He worked in the printing industry, at Verizon/Nynex Yellow Pages for many years, then as a Pressroom Supervisor for QuadGraphics in Leominster, Mass.
Jim loved music, both listening and as a musician, especially Bluegrass. He was learning to play the pedal steel guitar, his favorite instrument. He also enjoyed reading and spending time outdoors. Biking, hiking, and skiing were among his favorite activities. Above all he loved spending time with his family. His family and friends loved him greatly and will miss him tremendously; it has left a huge void in the large family. Jim was happiest spending time with his immediate and extended family. He was always willing to help anyone, had a very kind and selfless heart, one of the loyalist friends one could have and an incredible husband and father. He just adored his kids and was very proud of all their accomplishments.
Along with his wife of 24 years, Jill, he is survived by his two children, Elizabeth and Samuel Mudge, both of Nashua; his mother, Janet Seehausen of Nashua, N.H.; three brothers and their spouses, Jared Mudge of New York City, Alden Mudge and wife Mari Lori of Berkley, Calif., and Richard Seehausen and wife Ann of Hurleyville; four sisters and their spouses, Alice Iwasa and husband Sato of Harvard, Mass., Mary Bresler and husband Jon of Bow, N.H., Sina March and husband Chuttee of Denver, Colo., and Sylvia Szucs and husband Joe of Galveston, Texas; his in-laws, Douglas Houghton, Katherine Houghton, and Karly Houghton, all of Kingston, NH; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews, including Ben Bresler, Nina Seehausen and Isabelle Mudge.
Those who wish to make a memorial contribution in James’ name are asked to consider The James B. Mudge Music Memorial Fund. Because of Jim’s love for music the family is establishing a fund to help other musicians, young and old achieve their musical goals through education.
