Bertha Klockowski


SHERBURNE – Bertha Potter Klockowski, 87, of School St., passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
She was born Jan. 19, 1925 in Utica, a daughter of Stanley and Anna Galas Potter and was a graduate of Sherburne High School. On Nov. 26, 1955, Bertha married John J. Klockowski in Sherburne. She had worked for Scintilla and TACO, and then for the Sherburne Inn until her retirement. Bertha was happiest when spending time with her family. She enjoyed gardening and traveling, and was a marvelous cook whose specialties were her ethnic Polish, Lebanese and Italian dishes.
Bertha was a communicant of St. Malachy’s Church in Sherburne and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the American Legion Post #876 Auxiliary of Sherburne.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, John; two sons and daughters-in-law, John M. and Mary Klockowski of Norwich; Lawrence J. and Judy Klockowski of Whitesboro; and her beloved grandchildren, Logan Klockowski of Sherburne; Jake Klockowski and Hannah Klockowski, both of Norwich. She was predeceased by her daughter, Joanna M. Klockowski on December 18, 1988; and a sister, Josephine Stopera.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday from St. Malachy’s Church, Sherburne, followed by interment in St. Malachy’s Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. The rosary will be recited at 4:45 p.m.
