NORWICH – Tracey L. Conant, 53, of Norwich, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Her family was by her side.
Born Sept. 2, 1958, in Norwich, Tracey was the daughter of Erford B. Conant, who passed away in May of 2004 and Betty A. (Eggleston) Conant, who survives. Tracey grew up in Norwich and graduated from Norwich High School with the Class of 1976. She worked all her life to support her family and was a full time mother. She greatly enjoyed a tradition her father had started … looking for the first robin in the spring. Tracey also enjoyed genealogy, carpentry work and just being outdoors.
In addition to her mother, Betty, Tracey is survived by her two sons, Travis J. Smith and his wife, Janice of Norwich and Andrew J. Smith and his wife, Melissa of Cibolo, Texas. She is also survived by a sister, Dale Conant of Norwich, a brother, Morgan Conant, also of Norwich, a sister, Jill Conant-Trivette of High Point, N.C. and a brother, Timothy Conant and his wife, Lianne, of Norwich. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
A memorial service for family and close friends will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday at the Wilson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tracey’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
