Thomas Stephens


SHERBURNE – Thomas James Stephens, 62, of Sherburne, died Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown.
Tom was born Dec. 3, 1949 in New Berlin, where he lived most of his life. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, New Berlin.
Thomas was a lover of old TV shows, Johnny Cash and food and had an incredible sense of humor. Tommy, as we liked to call him, also loved writing in his notebook, or any piece of paper he could get his hands on. He could spend endless hours watching Lifetime Movie Network and would always greet people with his “Tommy Salute.” His family and friends loved him dearly and he will be greatly missed.
Tom was predeceased by his father Melvin F. Stephens (1976); mother Lillian E. Stephens (2003); brothers Melvin M. Stephens (2001); Wesley N. Stephens (2011).
He is survived by his sister-in-law Rosemary Stephens, Edmeston; nephews David Stephens, Cave Creek, Ariz; Douglas Stephens, Burlington Flats; Jack Stephens, Morris; niece Sandra Muhl, Clay, and their families.
The family expresses appreciation to the staff and residents at Springbrook Sherburne for their love and care for Tom over the past few years.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Dakin Funeral Home, New Berlin with Rev. Dr. Lyle Linder officiating. There will be no calling hours, interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, New Berlin.
Contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of New Berlin or Springbrook in Milford, or to a charity of your choice.
