Carl Belden


WEST EDMESTON – Carl R. Belden, 73, of West Edmeston died Friday, March 30, 2012 at home with his family by his side.
He was born in West Edmeston on Dec. 13, 1938, the son of Warren and Alexa (Talbot) Belden. On July 21, 1956 at the First Baptist Church in West Edmeston he married Elsie L. Hamm, who survives.
Carl was a store manager for Victory Markets, but his greatest joy was being a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was very active in the West Edmeston Fire Department in the Fire Police and enjoyed model trains, golf, bowling, car racing, mowing the West Edmeston Fire Department baseball field, birds, squirrels and his dog, Zoë.
In addition to his wife Elsie, Carl is survived by his children; Marty & Michele Taranto, Carla Neilsen & Nancy Phillips, Walter & Carolyn Carney, Carl & Heather Belden and Clarence & Melinda Belden, 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother and sister: Warren & Arlyn Belden, Sandy & George Price and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David & Shirley Hamm. His sister, Mildred Estes and his mother and father-in-law, Grace & Alfred Morin predeceased him.
Funeral services for Carl will be private at the convenience of the family.
Contributions may be made in Carl’s memory to the West Edmeston Fire Department, Leonardsville Fire Department or Hospice & Palliative Care in New Hartford.
