Anthony Natoli


NORWICH – Anthony “Tony” Natoli, 88, a long time resident of Norwich, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, in the Mulberry Nursing Home of Mulberry, Indiana.
Tony was born in Norwich on June 5, 1923, the son of John and Catherine Portelli Natoli. He grew up in Norwich and attended the Norwich schools. In 1949 he married Margaret Angle, who predeceased him. A veteran of the United States Army he served in the U.S. Army occupation forces in Korea after World War II and before the Korean conflict. Tony had worked for the Norwich High School as head custodian and in his spare time undertook the operation of an industrial cleaning service which he and his wife operated for many years. He enjoyed many mornings at McDonald’s having coffee with many of his friends, going with his wife to garage sales and getting a good bargain. He also enjoyed poking around in the various dollar stores in the area, working in his basement making many lawn ornaments in his woodworking shop and gardening in the spring taking great pleasure in the end results of his efforts.
Tony is survived by his daughters Gwendolyn Davis and husband Gerry of Cornwall, Ontario, Shirley VanDewerker of Maryland, N.Y. and Cathy Roark and husband Randy of Mulberry, Ind.; by his grandchildren Robert, Lisa, Lori, Rita, David, Mike, Bob, Kevin and Brian; and by his none great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Besides his wife Margaret, Tony was predeceased by his brothers John and Joseph Natoli.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Tony will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Bartholomew’s Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. Ralph A. Bove, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.
