Arlene Campbell


SHERBURNE – Arlene Elizabeth Russell Campbell, 84, of Sherburne, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Chenango Memorial Hospital Residential Healthcare Facility, Norwich.
She was born March 19, 1928 in Oneida, a daughter of Emmett C. and Sarah L. Weaver Russell and was a graduate of Oxford Academy and Central School in 1946. On Sept. 27, 1947, Arlene married Arthur G. Campbell of Oxford. He predeceased her on May 12, 2004. For 25 years, Arlene had done domestic work for several Sherburne area families. She had also done janitorial work for the Sherburne Village offices for 13 years, the Chenango Valley Pet Foods offices for three years, and together with her husband, for NBT Bank in Sherburne for 14 years. She was a well-known seamstress and area organist.
Arlene was a member of the Faith Baptist Tabernacle in Sherburne; the American Legion Post 876 Auxiliary, Sherburne; the Sherburne Grange; and the Broken Squares.
Surviving are three sons; David and Linda Campbell of Ohio; Lewis and Sandy Campbell of New Berlin; Timothy and Brenda Campbell of Earlville; four daughters, Carol Cummings of Sherburne; Sharon and James Hool of Astatula, Fla.; Arlene Penner of Hamilton; Sandra and Rick Turner of Bloomfield; 21 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Marion Campbell of Canandaigua and Doris Crouch of Bainbridge; a brother, Stewart and Carletta Russell of Oxford; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson Eric Cummings, a great-grandson, Dakota James Dowd; a sister, Irene Huckabone; and two brothers, Emmett Russell, Jr. and Stanley Russell.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, followed by interment in West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday from noon until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
