Edna Hamstra


OXFORD – Edna A. Hamstra, 99, of North Haledon, N.J., passed away at the Holland Christian Home on March 19, 2012.
She was born on June 9, 1912 in Paterson, N.J. a daughter of the late William G. and Adele (Cliff) Blasberg. She was married to Martin H. Hamstra, who passed away in 1994.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin and Dorothy Hamstra of Oxford, Richard and Gale Hamstra of Norwich and Harold and Bette Hamstra of Knoxville, Tenn.; her grandchildren, Mark and Vivian Hamstra, Ross and Lorraine Hamstra, Arden Hamstra, Heather Hamstra and Andrew and Jennifer Hamstra. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, William Blasberg and Charles Blasberg.
Edna was a long time member of the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church. She was a long time volunteer and past president of the auxiliary at the Holland Christian Home, where she enjoyed sewing for the residents. She and her family operated the Blasberg Fruit Farm for many years. She was a former school teacher in Hawthorne and North Haledon. She was a former volunteer at the Soup Kitchen in Norwich.
A memorial service will be held at a date and time to be announced.
