Dean Lindenthaler

NORWICH – Dean E. Lindenthaler, 72, of Polkville Hill, passed away at the Chenango Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 with family by his side.
Born on June 6, 1939, in Paterson, N.J., Dean was the son of Frank and Doris (Cozine) Lindenthaler. Dean was a kind, loving and devoted husband and father. In Norwich, on Aug. 22, 1959, Dean married his beloved wife, Kay Pooler, who survives. Dean is also survived by his children Allen Lindenthaler and his wife, Pattie, Tammy Lindenthaler and Terry Lindenthaler, all of Norwich, and Lisa Lindenthaler, of Orlando, Fla. He is also survived by his grandchildren Joshua and Matthew Jones, Brittany and Justin Lindenthaler, and Erin Lindenthaler. Dean is also survived by several brothers and sisters and their children.
Dean was a family-oriented man and, regardless of work, he took the time to attend family activities. He was proud of his wife, children and grandchildren, and all of their accomplishments. In his free time, Dean enjoyed the outdoors, driving his tractor, cruising around on his golf cart and making his morning rounds at local stores. Throughout the years, Dean was also a magnet to the various family pets, and even stray pets, and the animals knew he had a soft spot under that tough outer shell.
For many years Dean worked as a Specialist at the Raymond Corporation, as a Chenango County Deputy Sheriff and as an Officer for the Village of Greene Police Department. In 1986, Dean and his wife designed and built Lindy’s Ice Cream Stop. Over the last 25 years they took pride in their business and enjoyed the friendship and patronage of their customers.
A private service for family and close friends will be held on Saturday morning at the Wilson Funeral Home. There will be no calling hours. Burial will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery at a later date.
