COCOA BEACH, Fla. – Russell Freed, of Cocoa Beach, Fla., passed away Jan. 12, 2012 of natural causes. He was born Feb. 11, 1946 in Norwich. He was the son of Martha and Daniel Freed.
Russell graduated from Norwich High School and later spent four years in the Navy. He moved to Florida and graduated from Brevard College with a B.S.M.E. degree. For many years he ran his own business, Brevard County Air Conditioning and Heating.
Russ was an avid pool player and played in and won many tournaments.
He is survived by his daughter Kristy; sisters, Shirley Perkins of Clatskamie, Ore.,Carolyn Drake, Sherburne; brothers, Daniel, Cortland, Richard (Carol), Pawley’s Island, S.C. and Robert, Taylorsville, N.C. He was predeceased by his brother Donald. Russ is survived by a sister-in-law Barbara of Vestal; his step sons Michael and Scott Farmer, along with several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in Norwich this summer at the convenience of the family.
