Albert Stringham


GREENE – Albert C. Stringham, 80, of Greene, passed away at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton on March 7, 2012.
He was born on March 23, 1931 in Greene a son of the late Edward and Helen (Hoyt) Stringham. On Sept. 4, 1949 he married Janet Houghtaling, who passed away on Jan. 21, 2008.
He is survived by his children, Judy and Bryan Pierce of Oxford, Kalli and Gale Clinton of Greene, Denise and Robert Whitney of Gloucester, Va., Bonnie and Gregory Marvin of Weedsport, Steven and Kelly Stringham of Sweetwater, Tenn., Penny and Michael Fitzgerald of Crystal River, Falk. and Donna Stringham of Ocala, Fla.; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; his sisters, Alice and Charles Peters of Norwich and Phyllis and Don Hatton of Coventry. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, William Lee and Nelson and Kathy Houghtaling and sister-in-law, Mary Houghtaling and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Doris Lee and his brother-in-law, William Houghtaling.
Albert was a dairy farmer for many years before going to work in construction. He then started Hi Way RV Center in Oxford and also operated in later years Cross Country RV Center in Ocala, Fla. He was an avid golfer and had 3 holes in one. He loved country music, especially Loretta Lynn, and liked to play his guitar. He was a handyman, who could fix anything. He enjoyed pitching for the Greene Town Team in his younger years. He liked to watch Hee Haw and eat popcorn with his family on Sunday night. He also liked to go hunting and work in his woodshop. He enjoyed pitching horseshoes.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford, with Rev. Allen C. Lang, pastor of the United Church of Oxford, officiating. Burial will be in Warn Ten Broeck Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home on Saturday from 6-8 p.m.
