Roberta Jackson


NORWICH – Roberta Edna Jackson, 87, of Norwich, formerly of Greene, passed away February 29, 2012 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich.
She was born on August 17, 1924 in Oxford, the daughter of the late Howard and Ethel (Sharpe) Smith. On July 27, 1946 she married Lloyd D. Jackson, who passed away on May 10, 1994.
She is survived by her children, Susan Doliver of Norwich, Rose Bailer of Skaneateles, Kevin and Sue Jackson of Bahama, N.C. and Karl Jackson of Binghamton; her grandchildren, Bill Doliver of Mooresville, N.C., Rob Bailer and Dennis Bailer both of Skaneateles, and Jason Doliver of Norwich; her great granddaughters, Kayleigh Doliver of Earlville and Olivia Doliver of Norwich and her sister-in-law, Juanita (Frank) Freer of Guilford. She was predeceased by her brothers, Maurice Jerry Smith and Malcolm “Pete” Smith.
Roberta was raised in Greene and graduated from Greene Central School, Class of 1941. She had worked for IBM, Page Seed Co. and retired as an aide from Greene Central School. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, Greene Grange #1413 and the Greene Historical Society. She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother, who will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Kennedy Funeral Home, 21 N. Chenango St., Greene, with Rev. Jay Zarenga, pastor of her church officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery, Greene.
Friends may call at the Kennedy Funeral Home, Greene on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.
