Richard Parker


McDONOUGH – Richard Parker, 82, of McDonough, passed away early Wednesday morning, Feb. 8, 2012, in the Wilson Regional Medical Center of Johnson City.
The son of Clifford and Hazel Vinning Parker, Dick was born in December of 1929 in Wells, and attended the Cincinnatus school. On Dec. 30, 1951 in Oxford, he married Marion MacLaury, who passed away March 14, 2009. Over the years Dick had been employed by Ford Homes where he worked for 28 years, the Raymond Corporation and the Chenango County Highway Dept. for over 15 years, from which he retired.
Dick was all about his family. He could often be found at one of the sporting events of his children or grandchildren and never missed a birthday or holiday. He and his wife enjoyed attending local senior citizens dinners and playing a good game of cards.
Dick is survived by his daughters, Carol Sayles of McDonough and Cathy Ingraham and her husband Randy of Oxford, his grandchildren Richard Ingraham and his companion Joanne, Todd (Amy) Ingraham, Michael (Laureen) Ingraham, Andrea (Mark) Schmidt, Jackie Sayles and companion Marc Rogers and Lisa Nesbitt and his great grandchildren Katelyn, Sean, Alyssa and Brooke. Also surviving is his sister Virginia of Ill. and his brother Keith (Jim) Parker of Groton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Besides his wife Marion, Dick was predeceased by his sisters Ella Mae, Madeline and Mildred and his brothers Donald, Elwood and Alfred.
Funeral services for Dick will be held at noon on Tuesday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. His nephews Jerry and Jason Sayles will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the Union Cemetery of McDonough.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon.
