NORWICH – Bruce Harvey Camp, 75, of Norwich, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, after a brief illness.
Mr. Camp is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Christine (Crandall) Camp. He was born on May 18, 1937, the son of LeRoy and Norma (Sage) Camp, and graduated from high school in New Berlin, in 1955. Prior to his retirement, Bruce was employed as a machinist at the Amphenol Corporation in Sidney.
In addition to his wife, Bruce Camp leaves a sister, Sharon Graubau and her husband John of Bonita Springs, Fla., as well as his children’s mother, Anna Camp of Latham Corners. Two brothers, George and Douglas Camp, predeceased him.
Besides his late son, LeRoy Camp II, Bruce’s children include his daughter, Pamela Camp of New Berlin, and three sons: Kevin, of Kirkwood, Thomas, of Symrna and Tim and wife Mary, of Shrewsbury, Mass. His stepchildren are: Harold Townsend and wife Patricia, of New Berlin, George Townsend and wife Lisa, of Guilford, Dale Townsend and wife Cindy, of Norwich, Sue Brownell and husband Terry, of Edmeston and Daryl Townsend and wife Christina, of Guilford. There are also numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to their home in Norwich, Bruce and his wife Christine spent winters after retirement at their residence in Punta Gorda, Fla., where they enjoyed the company of many good friends. Mr. Camp was an avid lover of the outdoors who also enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren. A kind and generous man, Bruce is fondly remembered by his family and his many friends.
A memorial service is tentatively scheduled for April in New Berlin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in memory of Bruce Camp be sent to The Salvation Army, 127-131 Washington Street, Binghamton, NY 13901.
