Jane Panaro


NORWICH – Jane M.C. Panaro, 93, of Birdsall Street, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006 at the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford.
Born July 20, 1913 in Norwich, Jane was the daughter of Antonio and Mary (Cincotta) Casamento. Following her schooling, she began her career at M.H. Fishman and then the Norwich Silk Mill on Waite Street and later worked as a payroll supervisor at the former GLA and Simmonds Precision. She retired in 1978.
Jane was a dedicated member of the Church of St. Bartholomew where she helped with many of the church’s activities including many spaghetti suppers. She was also a member of the Rosary Society. Jane loved to cook for her family and friends and also enjoyed bowling with the Monday Night B League and reading.
On Jan. 2, 1947, in St. Bartholomew Church, Jane married John T. Panaro who survives. She is also survived by her daughter, Mary Jane Loucy and her husband, Patrick, of Rouses Point; two grandchildren, Ryan and Sae-lyn Loucy of Beekmantown, and Ross Loucy and his fiancée, Sarah Piskor, of Syracuse; a brother, Bernard Casamento and his wife, Mary of Aurora, Ohio; two sisters, Rose Biviano and Frances Liberatore, both of Norwich. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by three brothers, Philip, Joseph and Salvatore Casamento as well as a sister, Bertha Davis.
Funeral services for Jane will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Church of St. Bartholomew. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-6 p.m. Members of the St. Bartholomew’s Rosary Society will recite the Rosary at 3:30.
