Maude Tyrrell Degoede


NORWICH – Maude B. Tyrrell deGoede, 96, formerly of the Middletown area and a resident of Norwich for the past 12 years, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 18, 2012 in Norwich’s Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Maude was the daughter of Gustavus and Jessie Boyer Hale, born in Trenton, N.J., in April of 1915. She had resided in the Middletown area for over 60 years, where she raised her family and was co-owner of John Tyrrell & Sons Livestock Sales in Bullville. Following her move to Norwich, she always kept abreast of the country’s political scene and was ready at any time to offer her views to anyone who asked. She was also an avid baseball fan.
Surviving are Maude’s daughter, Maude Abkarian of Middletown; her son William Tyrrell and wife Janice of North Norwich; 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Maude was predeceased by her first husband, John T. Tyrrell in January of 1974; her second husband John deGoede; her daughter Martha; her son, John Tyrrell Jr.; and a sister and brother.
Graveside services for Maude will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from the Wallkill Cemetery, Middletown. There will be no calling hours.
