COVENTRY – Anthony (Cato Leather) Torre, 82 of Coventry, passed away on Jan. 10, 2011 at his home with his family at his side.
He was born on June 11, 1929 in Lodi, N.J., the son of the late James and Lucy (Plescia) Torre. On Sept. 3, 1950 in Little Ferry, N.J., he married the former Carole Wagner.
He is survived by his wife, Carole of Coventry; his sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Michelle Torre of Charleston, S.C., and Ronald and Luanne Torre of Coventry; his daughter Carole Nease of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; his grandchildren, Anthony Torre Jr., Andi Torre, Tiffany Torre, Carole Bennett, Ronald Torre Jr., Anthony Ronald Torre, Melissa Bates, Samantha Torre, and Luci Nabinger; and his very special friends, Carolyn and Lloyd Drachler. Six great grandchildren also survive. He was predeceased by his grandson, Danial Amerson.
Tony was a former agent and then manager for Metropolitan Life Ins. Company; he had also operated a 7-11 Store for several years. He owned and operated Cato Leather Shop in Tarpon Springs, Fla. and Coventry for many years. He had also owned Cypress Shores Marina in Eutawville, S.C. The family would like to thank Hospice of Chenango Co. for their loving care provided to Tony and all the family.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Coventry United Methodist Church, with Carolyn Drachler officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
