Ingrid Schutte


EARLVILLE – Ingrid V. Schutte, 88, of East Main St., passed away Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich.
She was born Jan. 26, 1923 in the province of Dalarna, Sweden, a daughter of Axel and Elsa Gustafsson Erikkson. At an early age, she and her family moved to Detroit, where she received her education and then worked as a hairdresser. On Dec. 6, 1946, Ingrid was married to Walter R. Schutte in Detroit. Moving to Earlville in 1949, the couple operated their chicken farm together. Ingrid loved to garden and enjoyed her flowers. She also did needlework and sewing.
Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Walter; her children, Alison and Samuel Benjamin of Morris; Peggy and Robert Mason of Norwich; and Sheila Schutte of Poolville; grandchildren, Matthew Seifert of Otego; Jessica and Tim Trask of Oneonta; Stacey Benjamin of Morris; Kimberly and Christopher Conway of Smithtown; Erik Mason of Norwich; Wendy and Patrick Quarry of Holly Springs, NC; Heather and Brian Binelli of Poolville; great-grandchildren, Seirrah, Ian, Chase, Keira, Hannah and Logan. She was predeceased by a son, Robert W. Schutte on July 29, 2006, and a brother, Axel Ingvar Eriksson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 3 Preston St., Earlville, followed by interment in the West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m.
