Louis Allison


 SHERBURNE – Louis L. Allison, 78, of Shawler Brook Road, passed away Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006 at his home.
He was born Jan. 6, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY, a son of Charles G. and Lillian Guthoff Allison, a received his education in Sherburne schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served with the 720th Military Police Battalion in Japan. On Oct. 1, 1950, Louis was married to Gladys G. Brush in Mahopac.  Louis was the head custodian for the Sherburne-Earlville Elementary Schools until his retirement, and had previously been the groundskeeper at the Caramoor Estates in Katonah.
Mr. Allison was a member of the Faith Baptist Tabernacle in Sherburne and the American Legion Post #876 of Sherburne. Gardening was his passion and his life, and he also enjoyed woodworking and crafts.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys; three daughters and a son-in-law, Starr Clark of Portland, OR; Patricia and Douglas Boos of Smyrna; Lillian Cashman of Sherburne; a sister, Shirley Price of Sherburne; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Sherburne Quarter Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, NY.
