Norman Wood


CINCINNATUS – Norman D. Wood, 77, of Cincinnatus, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at his home, while surrounded by his family.
Norman was born April 12, 1934 in Cincinnatus, a son of the late Lewis T. and Iva Weeks Wood. Norman has lived in this area most of his life andhas worked on various farms and also for the Otselic Valley Nursing/Cincinnatus Senior Citizens Home. He proudly served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, receiving the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal.  He was a member of the Coonley-Najaima Chapter 30, Disabled American Veterans and American Legion. Norman enjoyed hunting, fishing, and country music, but mostly spending time with his children and grandchildren who were the loves of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn, whom he married on Nov. 26, 1965; a son, Kevin S. (Buffy) Wood of Lisle, Dorotha (Ricky) Neu of Tully, Melody (Jerome) DuBois of Murphy, N.C., and Kandi (Ghi) Tanudjaja of Cortland. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Joshua and Jaimi of Spring Hill, Fla., Tyler, Trayton and Trinity Tanudjaja of Cortland, Destiny and Tucker Wood of Marathon, Emily Wood of Lisle, and Sara Olivia of Tully; a brother, Mickey (Janice) Wood of Cortland; sisters, Patricia (Louie) Cranson of McGraw, Joyce (Ricky) Alexander and Fern Crandall of McGraw, Janice Lett of Iowa, plus many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, John, Bob, Gene, Dean and Lynn Junior, and sisters, Edith Cortright and Cecile Baker.
Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, on Monday, Nov. 28, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Palmer Neumeister officiating.  Burial, with military honors, will be in Cortland Rural Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m.
