Retha Webb


SHERBURNE – Retha M. “Reet” Webb, 78, of Classic St., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011 at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown.
Retha was born Aug. 24, 1933 in Plymouth, a daughter of Claude and Anna Bosworth Westover and received her education in Norwich schools. On July 14, 1951, she married Glenn H. Webb in Ft. Worth, Texas. He predeceased her on April 16, 2002. A Sherburne resident most of her life, Mrs. Webb had worked in the cafeteria at the Sherburne-Earlville Central School for over 16 years. She also assisted her husband in the operation of his business, Glenn H. Webb Excavating for 30 years. Retha was a loving mother and grandmother whose greatest joy was her family.
Mrs. Webb was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Sherburne. She was also a member of the American Legion Post #876 Auxiliary in Sherburne, and the Sherburne Fire Department Auxiliary.
Surviving are her children, Daniel G. Webb and Vicky Paddock, Donald “Butch” Webb and Bonnie Knapp, Diane and Michael Hicks, all of Sherburne; Deborah and Brian Phelps of Baldwinsville; Douglas C. and Kristine Palmer Webb, Denise Anne Webb and Bernie Ferris, all of Sherburne; her sisters, Evelyn Tayler of Syracuse and Joyce Pollock of Norwich; 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mildred Coy, Mary Dolan, Florence Perkins, Alice Swenson, June Miles, Gladys Marcle, Jennie Fredenburg and Ruth Nelson; her brothers, Morris “Cap,” John, Bobbie and Jake Westover; a grandson, Mitchell and a great-granddaughter, Hayleigh.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Church of the Epiphany, Classic St., Sherburne, followed by interment in West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the Sherburne Fire Department Auxiliary; or to the American Legion Post #876 Auxiliary.
