Thomas Mirabito


NORWICH – Mr. Thomas Anthony Mirabito, 71, retired chemical engineer at Stauffer Chemical Co./ Rhone-Poulenc, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2011 at his residence on Windermere Drive ion Columbia, Tenn.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Thursday at Oakes & Nichols with The Rev. Thomas S. Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

The Norwich native was the son of the late Thomas Salvadore Mirabito and Lena Teressa Juiffre Mirabito. He was a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, majoring in Chemical Engineering. On April 18, 1964 he married Marylou Hudson Mirabito, who preceded him in death on Sept. 15, 2003. After retirement he worked as a professional engineer consultant, most recently for SLLI and Rhodia, Inc. in Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Mirabito was an avid golfer and member of Graymere Country Club and Mt. Pleasant Country Club. He served as a Board Member and Vice President for the Mt. Pleasant - Maury County Phosphate Museum and was a volunteer van driver for Maury Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. He was also a Golden K Member of the Kiwanis Club and a member of the Elks Club. He was a member of the Catholic Church.
Survivors include his daughters, Mary Beth (Calvin) Durham of Florence, Alabama, Julie Ann Wicker of Wichita Falls, Texas; Amy Lynn (Damon) Reed of Hoover, Alabama; son, Thomas James Hudson Mirabito of Columbia; and grandchildren, Mary Caitlin Durham, Matthew Durham, Anthony Mirabito, Abby Reed, Emily Wicker, Ella Reed and Hudson Reed.
Active pallbearers will be Bill Hendry, Phillip Rogers, Fletcher Lindsey, Robert Rogers, Damon Reed and Calvin Durham. Honorary pallbearers will be retirees of Rhone-Poulenc, Maury Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, and Old Gents of Graymere including W. H. Pigg, Alvin Moore, Waymon Hickman, Joe Lancaster, Joe High, Bedford Lochridge, Jim Sproul, Bill Sanders, Bill Walter and Dan Wheeler.
