Thomas Franck Sr.


NORWICH – Thomas R. Franck Sr., 68, of South Broad Street, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011 at his residence with his loving family by his side.
Born on April 6, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, Thomas was the son of Marcel and Virginia (O’Brien) Franck. After high school, Thomas matriculated at the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a bachelor’s degree. He was also honorably discharged from the United States Navy after having served as a naval officer from 1966-1970.  Thomas worked for Proctor & Gamble, and retired after 30 years as marketing manager for the company. After retiring, he enjoyed working as a consultant for a stem cell research company.
Thomas was a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a regular spectator at his grandchildren’s various sporting events. In retirement, and before returning to Norwich in 2008, he spent eight years in Amelia Island, Florida, where he was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed traveling to Europe with his wife, especially their trips to Italy. Thomas was an accomplished carpenter, a devoted fan of Notre Dame football, and a cheeseburger connoisseur. Thomas was also particularly fond of his bassets Prudence Ethel, Lady Victoria of Norwich, and Bella Sera.
On Jan. 22, 1966, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Thomas married his beloved wife of 45 years, Salli Feldmann, who survives. Thomas is also survived by his daughter, Melissa Supensky, and her husband, Lee, of Norwich. He is also survived by his grandchildren Conner, Brayden, and Carter Jack Supensky, and Kyleigh Franck; great-grandchildren Emalynn and Haidyn Bush; and brother Marcel Franck. Thomas Franck, Jr. and Michael Franck also survive.
Friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home on Monday, from 4 to 7 p.m. In recognition of Thomas’ wishes, there will be no funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Thomas’ memory to Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich, NY  13815, or the Chenango County SPCA, 6160 County Road 32, Norwich, NY  13815.
