Margaret Ferguson


SHERBURNE –Margaret Mulligan (McCredy) Ferguson, 93, of Port Orange, Fla., formerly of Sherburne, passed away Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011 at the Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach, Fla.
She was born July 5, 1918 in Norwich, a daughter of James and Eva Hogencamp Mulligan and was a graduate of Norwich schools. On May 15, 1943, Margaret married David M. McCredy. They moved around the country while he was in the Army and then settled in Earlville after his discharge. After a few years, they built a home in Sherburne where she lived until moving to Florida permanently in 1991. David predeceased her on November 2, 1967. On Dec. 17, 1971, she married William J. “Fergie” Ferguson who predeceased her on Dec. 11, 1991. Margaret was a loving mother and homemaker. She volunteered many hours at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich, and in later years at Halifax Medical Center. She was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed going to the Daytona race for many years. She had been a member of St. Malachy’s Church in Sherburne.
Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Carl Koenig of Oxford; Jayne and Larry Rau of Daytona Beach; a brother, James Mulligan of Parkland, Fla.; her beloved grandchildren, Renee and Jordan Rau and Nathan Koenig; brother-in-law and his wife, Robert and Jeanette McCredy of Sherburne; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Catherine Baker
Private graveside services will be held Saturday in the Earlville Cemetery, Earlville.
Arrangements are entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
