James Hendricks Sr.


NORWICH – James K. Hendricks, Sr., 86, of 42 Henry St., passed away unexpectedly at Chenango Memorial Hospital on Friday, Nov. 17, 2006.
Jim was born on Oct. 23, 1920 at home in Greene. The son of Martin and Lillian Hendricks, Jim moved with the family to Norwich to open and operate the family farm located at the present site of Chenango BOCES. He graduated from Norwich Schools and worked for C&U Telephone Company for 34 years; he retired in 1984. He married Grace V. Haynes on June 26, 1943 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Norwich. His wife predeceased him on April 17, 2000.
Jim is survived by his children and their families: daughter, Patty Howard and spouse Tony Ward of Lancaster, Pa. and her children: Dr. Richard A. Howard and his daughter Amanda Grace of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Jay and wife Alice and their sons Parker and Hayden Howard of Lancaster, Pa., Rebecca and husband, Chad, and children Bryce and Bailey Casey of Lancaster, PA; son, James K. Hendricks, Jr., and wife, Patricia and children: Nathan and his wife Nicole, Alissa and Daniel, all of Saugus, Calif.; Lance H. Hendricks and wife Sandy and their children: Heather Hendricks and Joe Pizza of Greene, Melissa Hendricks, Dustin Hendricks and Carly Abbott and son Judson of Norwich, Faith, Amanda, and Lillian all of Norwich; daughter, Debby Hendricks of Endicott.
Jim is also survived by his brother, George Hendricks of Binghamton and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by his sister Eleanor Eccleston Burke.
Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Norwich and the Norwich Volunteer Emergency Squad,
This is not the end for Dad, but the beginning of something better.
