Warren Leibundgut Sr.


SOUTH PLYMOUTH – Warren E. Leibundgut Sr., 70, of South Plymouth, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, Dec. 4, 2006, surrounded by his family.
Born Jan. 27, 1936 in New York City, Warren was the son of Albert L. and Bertha (Soukup) Leibundgut. Warren graduated in 1953 from East Islip High School, Long Island, where he and his future wife Adrienne were king and queen of their Junior Prom. After high school, Warren served four years in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he worked with the John Hancock Insurance Co. on Long Island before moving to South Plymouth in 1974, when he began working with Prudential Insurance. Warren serviced many families first in Sherburne, and then in Norwich. He retired in 1998.
Warren loved to play golf and was a longtime member of the Canasawacta Country Club. He was a founder of Foster Park in South Plymouth and poured his heart and soul into its construction. He also enjoyed boating, and was known as a ‘gentleman farmer.’ Warren will forever be remembered for his never-ending sense of humor.
On March 16, 1957, Warren married the former Adrienne Bresseleers who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Susan Baldwin and her husband, Leigh, of Cazenovia; two sons and their wives, Warren “Skip” Leibundgut Jr. and his wife, Anne, of Norwich, and Eric and Nancy Leibundgut of Manlius; eight grandchildren, Ashleigh, Alan and Adrianne Baldwin; Chelsea, Gabe, Ryan, William and Nicole Leibundgut; and a brother, Albert Leibundgut Jr. of Ridge, Long Island. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Warren will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7 at the Church of St. Bartholomew. Burial will follow in South Plymouth Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Warren may be made to Hospice of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich, NY 13815.
