SOUTH NEW BERLIN – Christa Henderson, 71, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011 at her home.
She was born Christa Himsel in Bayreuth, Germany. She was married to Joel Henderson, who predeceased her in 1991. Together they owned and operated Henderson’s Hardware in South New Berlin which Christa continued to operate after Joel’s death.
Christa is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Alex and Donna Henderson of South New Berlin, a daughter and son-in-law Andrea and Jim Skinner of South New Berlin, a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Sheila Henderson of South New Berlin. Her grandchildren include Jeremy Skinner, Carly Skinner, Kaitlin Holbrook and husband Mark, Emily Canney, and Jacob Henderson. Her family in Germany include a sister-in-law, Marianne Himsel, and a nephew Toni, and a niece Martina and cousins Herta, Marta, Ruth and Ute. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Florence Delameter of Oneonta and her nieces Doris Latta of Claymont Del. and Sonja Boehner of Norwich and many other nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until noon at which time a memorial service will be held at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris with the Rev. Barry S. Davis officiating. Private burial will be in Brookside Cemetery in Gilbertsville.
