Eugene Wilmarth Sr.


McDONOUGH – Eugene David Wilmarth Sr., 75, a 20-year resident of McDonough, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2011, in the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford.
Born in Scranton, Pa., in July of 1935, Eugene was the son of Lawrence and Frances Staff Wilmarth. Shortly after his completion of school in Scranton, he served in country in the U.S. Navy. Eugene was employed as a trucker by Fowler Williams Trucking out of Binghamton, and also worked as a security guard, having served, along with his family, the Watkins Glen Raceway, Windsor Field Days, the Town of Union in their parks, and the March of Dimes. He was a man who loved nature, enjoyed roller skating, and was a natural comedian. Eugene also liked motorcycles and just enjoyed life in general. He was a member of the Chenango firefighters.
On Feb. 23, 1974, in McDonough, Eugene married Grace Cobb Wilmarth, who survives. Also surviving are his children: Eugene D. Wilmarth, Jr. of Binghamton, Timothy H. Wilmarth and wife Carol of Marathon, and Caressa F. Clink of Chenango Bridge; 8 grand and 4 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Larry and Richard.
Funeral services for Eugene will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m.
