Alison Powers


NORWICH – Alison J. Powers, 61, of Tequesta, Florida passed away at home on May 24, 2011. She was the daughter of the late Robert E. Powers, formerly of Norwich & Brunswick, ME and Jean Powers, Brunswick, ME.
She is survived by her husband Philip Squier and daughter Alexandra Ande, both of Tequesta, Fla. She is also survived by her siblings Rob Powers and wife Karen of East Greenwich, RI, Paul Powers and wife Susan of Castleton, Patrice Powers of Brunswick, ME, and Leah Hupper and husband Brian of Tenants Harbor, ME, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Born in Oneonta on Oct. 7, 1949, Alison moved to Norwich in 1950 and attended St. Paul School though ninth grade. Alison was a 1967 graduate of Norwich Senior High School, a 1971 graduate of the College of New Rochelle with a BA in Art Studies, and a 1986 graduate of Nova University with an MS in Psychology. She was a well-known mental health therapist in south Florida for the past 25 years. A life-long learner, Alison was close to obtaining a post-graduate degree in analytical psychology. She shared with her family and friends a love of art, literature and design, an abiding interest in spirituality and philosophy, a quiet strength and an appreciation for the humorous side of life.
A private service for family and friends was held in Jupiter, Florida on May 28. A family service will be held at a later date in Tenants Harbor, ME where Alison will be interred.
