SOUTH NEW BERLIN – Rena N. Gould McCarthy, 89 years old of South New Berlin, passed at her home on May 27, 2011.
Rena was born on April 5, 1922 in South New Berlin, the daughter of Jay H. & Edith F. (Barber) Gould. She spent her childhood in the South New Berlin area where she was a graduate of South New Berlin High School. On Aug. 9, 1943 she married Richard McCarthy who predeceased her on July 29, 2007.
Rena was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed her home and flowers.
She is survived by her children; Timothy J. McCarthy and his wife Elaine of Preston, Michele M. Bryden and her husband Thomas of South New Berlin, Peter A. McCarthy and his wife Sandra of Norwich and Lori J. Porter and her husband Thomas of South Plymouth.
She is also survived by six grandchildren: Debra (John) Wanhadalo of Alabaster, Ala., Sherry (Timothy) Laughlin of Norwich, Tina (Scott) Lindridge of Oxford, Carrie (Michael) Meade of South New Berlin, NY, Tonya Miller of Plymouth and Timothy (Jennifer) McCarthy of New Berlin as well as 14 great grandchildren.
Rena is survived by her brothers; Charles Gould and Norman (Joan) Gould as well as sister-in-law Jeannette Gould. She was predeceased by her brother, Erlo Gould.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.
