NEW BERLIN – Mary Brant, 85, former resident of Norwich and Oxford and most recently a resident of the Chase Memorial Nursing Home in New Berlin, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2011 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Mary was born in October of 1925 in Baxley, Ga., the daughter of Wilson and Mahalie Wilson Sapp. On Sept. 10, 1946 in Baxley she married Francis Brant, who passed away June 2, 1997. In 1946, Mary and her husband moved to the Norwich area where they made their home until moving to Oxford in 1972 and eventually moved back to Norwich in 1986. In her early working years she had worked for the King Edward Tobacco Co.
Mary is survived by several cousins.
Besides her husband Francis, Mary was predeceased by her son Donald Brant who was killed while serving in the Vietnam War.
Funeral services for Mary will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
