Theodore Dolgos


NORWICH – Theodore P. “Ted” Dolgos, 96, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born April 2, 1915 in Philadelphia, Pa., Ted was the son of Julius J. and Julia (Toth) Dolgos. At just a few months old, his mother died and left Ted and another brother, Joseph, to live with an aunt. In 1918, his father, Julius, married Esther Illar and they raised Ted and his brother together.
Ted was employed by the NYS Department of Conservation for approximately eight years. He then worked for his father, who owned his own laboratory. He then entered the service as a machinist in the Army and was discharged four years later.
On Dec. 3, 1946, in Cumberland, Md., Ted married Oda Cook who died in 1986. Following his marriage, Ted worked for Norwich Pharmaceuticals for five years before joining GLA as a machinist.
Ted is survived by two sisters-in-law, Maude Dolgos and Dolores Dolgos as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, Julius and Frank Dolgos and his sisters, Ida Bennett and Helen Rovig.
It was Ted’s request that there be no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
