NORWICH – Reba M. Cummings, 94, of Norwich, passed away Monday afternoon, May 9, 2011, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born in Norwich in August of 1916, Reba was the daughter of Lewis and Angie Figary Follett. She attended school in South New Berlin and was employed for 22 years by the Norwich Knitting Mill and its successors. She retired from Champion Products in August of 1978. On June 28, 1940, in New Berlin, Reba married Vernon Cummings.
Reba is survived by her sons and their wives, Jerry and Lanie Cummings of Port Crane and Robert R. and Mary Ann Cummings of Norwich; by her sisters, Ola Scripture of Norwich and Norma L’Hommedieu of Altamont; and by seven grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Vernon on Jan. 30, 1987; and by sisters Florence Youngs, Nora Edwards, Alva Smith, and her brother, Roy Follett.
Funeral services for Reba will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Thursday from noon until 1 p.m.
