Neva Dewey


EARLVILLE – Neva P. Dewey, 93, formerly of Earlville and Sherburne, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2011 at the Crouse Community Center, Morrisville.
She was born Dec. 14, 1917 in Earlville, a daughter of Clarence and Delphia Parker Puller and attended Sherburne schools. Neva married Gerald Mettler in Sherburne who predeceased her. In September 1965, she married Russell Dewey in Smyrna, who predeceased her in February 1990. Neva had worked for T.A.C.O. in Sherburne for many years until her retirement. She had previously worked for Sherburne Manufacturing.
Surviving are her children, Margaret and Charles Hubbell of Clinton; Catherine and Bill Johnson of Sherburne; Janice and David Bassett of Smyrna; Eugene and Darlene Mettler of Kent, Ohio; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ward and Jean Dewey of Sherburne; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Sussman of Pennsylvania; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Bill; and three sisters, Nina Wilkinson, Eveline Hood and Edna Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 3 Preston St., Earlville, followed by interment in the Earlville Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service.
